The UNLV Master Of Science in Accounting prepares students to sit for a CPA examination and enter a career in public accounting. The program meets the curriculum requirements of Nevada and most states, which require 150 hours and an undergraduate core of accounting courses. The program requires those without an undergraduate degree in accounting to take courses in addition to the 30-hour Masters curriculum. The UNLV Master of Science in Accounting sets the stage for careers in finance, corporate accounting, taxation, government, and public accounting. The program emphasizes the global context of the accounting profession and its legal and ethical issues. College of Business Administration

Established in 1956, the School Of Business has achieved a notable record as a builder of business leadership and expertise. With twenty-one full time professional faculty and organization, it received accreditation from the prestigious American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business in 1961. Focused on the gaming industry, the School of Business advanced unique symposiums, research, and studies, which have combined into a body of knowledge. In 1989, it established an Institute for the study of gambling and commercial gaming. Later, it added a minor in gaming management. This close academic relationship with industry has provided many Nevada career opportunities for its graduates.

Master of Accountancy

This 30 hour course of study emphasizes a well-rounded business education with development of strong technical and professional accounting skills. Students must complete a core of graduate accounting course and add depth in functional areas of business. The program recognizes one needs academic, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to succeed in the business world. Students without undergraduate accounting degrees must take additional coursework from the core accounting curriculum.
