The M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration at Caldwell University is described as “rigorous,” and students must complete 33 credits to receive their degree. The Division of Business suggests its MBA program has been designed with a curriculum based upon 21st-century business practices. Students who aren’t qualified to enter the program may choose to take a series of undergraduate classes in order to qualify and formally enter the program. Applicants to the program who have an undergraduate degree in business must have an average GPA of 2.75 for all classes and a 3.0 in business classes. The GMAT is not required for students who have an undergraduate degree in business. Students must also submit two letters of recommendation and a writing sample. Students must also already have at least three years experience in business; however, the program’s coordinator may waive the requirement at his or her discretion. Students without an undergraduate degree in business must take several undergraduate prerequisite classes.

Master of Business Administration – Accounting

Students interested in working within a high-level area of accounting may wish to seek the Concentration in Accounting at Caldwell University. To complete the specialization, a student must take six additional credits of accounting classes. The M.B.A. with a concentration in accounting will help satisfy the educational requirements for a student to sit for the CPA exam. Rather than take BU 525 Financial Management, students will take BU 525 Advanced Auditing within their set of core classes. The concentration allows the student to take any three graduate-level accounting classes. Current accountants who wish to open their own accounting practice may find value in a business degree, and accounting majors who want to achieve CPA status may find the degree’s classes helpful in preparing to sit for the CPA exam. Caldwell University allows students to transfer up to six credits of graduate business classes from another accredited institution and approval is based upon the student’s grades in each class.

Master of Business Administration – Nonprofit Management

Students with an interest in nonprofit businesses may wish to consider the Nonprofit Management concentration from Caldwell’s business school. In addition to classes like Executive Business Communications, Financial Statement Analysis, and Governmental Accounting, students must also take concentration courses in Nonprofit Management that include Marketing, Public Relations and Administration in Nonprofit Organization, and Issues in Nonprofit Management. These classes are required in addition to the 30 credits of core classes. Students with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university may apply to the program regardless of their major; however, all students can only apply after having satisfied several prerequisite classes either at Caldwell or at their previous institution. Required subjects include accounting, economics, marketing, statistics, and management. At the conclusion of study, students will need to complete a capstone course of three credits. Students who wish to move into the nonprofit world may wish to consider the Nonprofit Management concentration at Caldwell.

Five-Year Combined B.S./M.B.A

Students who have reached their junior year and completed a minimum of 60 credit hours may apply for the combined B.S./M.B.A. program as long as they have maintained an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Students must also be a declared business division major and have completed at least 12 credit hours of courses in business at the college. To enter the five-year combined program, a student must obtain a recommendation from a faculty member and submit a graduate application for admission. Admission requirements also include a short statement of objectives and goals for the program. Students accepted into the combined B.S./M.B.A. program don’t need to take the GMAT as the test is waived upon acceptance. To complete the degree program, a student must complete 120 credits within the business division, which includes six credit hours of graduate classes. Students must also complete a foundation course in the M.B.A. program, as well as 39 credits of M.B.A. courses.

Five-Year Combined B.S./M.S. in Accounting

Similar to the B.S./M.B.A. program, students who are enrolled in the undergraduate accounting program at Caldwell may apply to enter the combined B.S./M.S. in Accounting program. Upon reaching the junior year, a student will apply formally to the combined accounting program. Students who enroll in the combined program will have some classes waived, as well as enjoy GMAT waiver. The combined program provides some of the classes required to sit for the CPA exam; however, students may need to complete some additional classes at the conclusion of the B.S./M.S. program to reach the 150 credit hour threshold required to sit for the exam. Students are encouraged to contact the program coordinator with any questions about completing the 150 credit hours before or after graduation. Students interested in a fast-track to their career may wish to consider a combined program like this five-year program since a student may be able to save money on his or her education with the waiver of some classes.

Georgian Court University was established in 1908 as a private Roman Catholic university. Located in Lakewood, New Jersey, the university was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and has around 2,100 students attending undergraduate and graduate-level programs. Established in 1929, New Jersey City University is a public school located in Jersey City. The university has been known under a variety of names and wasn’t known as NJCU until 1998.
