Drake University

College of Business & Public Administration

Drake University’s College of Business & Public Administration is one of only four colleges in Iowa to have earned Accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, which is the principle accrediting agency for business degree programs. The official mission of the College of Business & Public Administration is to “create and communicate for business and our global economy.” The college is located in the same city as many Fortune 500 companies, a growing entrepreneurial scene, and several leading insurance agencies and professional development of Drake University College of Business & Public Administration benefit from the University’s strong relationships with local businesses.

M.Acc. – Master of Accounting

Drake University’s Master of Accounting degree program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to earn an advanced degree while satisfying the 150 hour requirement that most states impose on accountants wishing to become licensed as Certified Public Accountants. Faculty of the Master of Accounting degree program are recognized scholars and have extensive experience practicing as Certified Public Accountants. Courses offered include: Leadership and Capital Development; Tax Research, Policy and Writing; Accounting for Not-For-Profit Entities; Financial Statement Analysis; and Emerging Accounting Issues.

Iowa State University

College of Business

Established in 1984, Iowa State University’s College of Business prepares its students to become tomorrow’s business leaders through the use of state-of-the-art technology. The College of Business is located in a 111,000 square foot building which includes high-tech laboratories that allow students to simulate real-world business situations including securities trading and market research. Students benefit from a highly dedicated and responsive faculty and nationally-recognized professors.

Master of Accounting

Designed to meet the needs of students interested in becoming licensed Certified Public Accountants, Iowa State University’s Master of Accounting degree program allows students to pursue a graduate degree in accounting while also enabling them to fulfill the 150 hour educational requirement set forth by most states to become a Certified Public Accountant. The program consists of 30 semester hours of graduate-level courses, including the following: Corporate Governance and Leadership, Advanced Federal Taxation, Fraud Examination and Prevention, International Accounting, Advanced Accounting Problems, and Accounting for Strategic Management. The Master of Accounting program is designed specifically for students with an undergraduate Accounting majors. Applicants who do not possess an undergraduate degree in Accounting will not be admitted into the program without first completing required prerequisite courses.

University of Iowa

Henry B. Tippie College of Business

Named to honor Henry B. Tippie, a former student and major benefactor of University of Iowa’s College of Business, the Henry B. Tippie College of Business has been teaching students the fundamentals of business and accounting for more than 150 years. It has been accredited by the AACSB since 1923 and its Master’s level accounting program has been ranked as one of the top ten in the nation by Academic Analytics. Several other degree programs have attracted national recognition, including its Economics Ph.D. program, which was ranked as the third top program of its kind in the United States. Guest speakers are regularly invited to speak at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, which provides students with access to highly regarded working professionals.

Master of Accountancy (M.Ac.)

University of Iowa’s M.Ac. program is a nonthesis graduate degree program requiring 30 semester hours in addition to a BBA. The program builds upon the knowledge and technical skills of students with a undergraduate accounting degree and helps students interested in achieving their CPA license meet the 150 hour educational requirement. Four areas of specialization are offered, namely: managerial accounting, Tax, Financial/Auditing, and Management Information Systems. Courses offered include Design and Use of Cost Management Systems, Advanced Auditing, Taxes and Business Strategy, Financial Information and Capital Markets, and Financial Reporting: Theory and Practice.
