Graduate Schools Accredited in Accounting in Colorado

Known as the “Centennial State,” Colorado is one of the Four Corners states in the Southwestern region of the United States. Encompassing most of the Southern Rocky Mountains in its borders, Colorado is the 8th largest and 22nd most populous of the 50 states with a population around 5.1 million. University of Colorado – Denver

Business School

Located in the heart of the energetic West, the University of Colorado at Denver is known for much more than just its gorgeous campus surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. Ranked as the 190th best college and the 108th top public school in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, UC Denver has a long legacy and reputation of academic excellence. In fact, the university awards more graduate degrees than any other public higher institution in Colorado, nearly one-third of all graduate degrees in the state.

Master of Science in Accounting

Highly respected in the field for the vast breadth of knowledge provided in both financial and managerial accounting, the Master of Science in Accounting program prepares enrolled students to become accountants, investment bankers, financial planners, and many more exciting career paths. Students are required to complete a series of common body knowledge (CBK) courses, a variety of background accounting courses, and the Master’s level accounting core courses without a comprehensive examination at the culmination. If interested, students have the opportunity to specialize their education in the emphasis areas of Auditing and Forensic Accounting, Controllership/Chief Financial Officer, Taxation, or Accounting and Information Audit Control (AISAAC).

University of Denver

Daniels College of Business

The University of Denver was first founded in 1864, only a couple years after the city of Denver itself was first established, which makes it the oldest and largest private university in the entire Rocky Mountain region. Home to more than 11,000 students across its 125-acre campus, DU is ranked as the 91st best college and 10th best up-and-coming school in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. The University of Denver is classified as a doctoral and research university with high research activity by the prestigious Carnegie Foundation.

As one of the best business schools in the world, the Daniels College of Business is ranked as the 59th best school for its part-time MBA program and 81st among the best accredited business schools in the nation. In addition, Bloomberg Businessweek lists the College of Business’ accounting programs as being the 15th best in the United States. Master of Accountancy

Offered by one of the oldest and finest Schools of Accountacy in the nation, the Master of Accountancy program is designed to provide first-rate accounting skills with an ethical foundation to perform them with integrity. Students who attend the program full-time are able to complete the 50 required credits for the degree in as little as one year. Graduates from this program have a proven track record of passing all sections of the CPA examination and earning the second-highest scores in the country. An estimated 95 percent of domestic graduates from the program accept professional positions within three months of completion, including many in top accounting firms like Deloitte and Ernst & Young.

University of Northern Colorado

Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business

Located about 50 miles north of Denver in the city of Greeley, the University of Northern Colorado has a strong background of quality education since 1889. The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business is dedicated to providing world-class business education that inspires students to be successful in their careers. For the past nine years, its graduates have consistently placed in the top four to ten percent for core business knowledge on the national standardized exit examinations. MCB is the first and sole business program that has been the recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from the Office of the President of the United States.

Master of Accounting

The MCB Master of Accounting degree program is designed for students who are interested in entering either public or private accounting and sitting for the CPA examination. Enrolled students are given ample internship opportunities during the school year at prestigious firms, such as Western Union, Anton Collins Mitchell (ACM), Deloitte, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and State Farm Insurance Companies. Completion of the program exceeds all of the Colorado state 150-hour requirements for licensing and provides all of the applied skills necessary to land a position in the industry.
